Perk on Main, located in Durham, Connecticut is a hidden gem. If you like crepes then you need to go to this place. If you don’t like crepes, you need to go to this place because you’ll end up loving them. Perk on Main has a charming outdoor deck that serves as a beautiful place to sip coffee while staring at fall foliage and the countryside. Charming might not be adequate enough to describe the ambience. They even have a food truck called Crepes Live!, aka “Perk on Wheels” Petition to have them come to Wes? Their story: “We have sought to not only bring people together but positively impact both our local and global community every day. Perk offers a wide selection of artisanal coffee and crepes, while keeping its carbon footprint at a minimum. As we continue to grow, so does our mission; thank you for supporting us.”

When you first walk in, it is a bustling place with a counter at which you first order your food and then find a place to sit. They serve anything from lattes and cappuccinos to normal black coffee. They also have an absurd amount of options for crepes. If you’re trying to nurse that hangover with something filling and salty, Perk on Main has you covered. If you’re trying to satisfy that sweet tooth, they have over fourteen crepes that can do the job. I was personally craving something saltier so I went with the “Et Tu Brutus.” It was everything good and savory. The crepe itself was perfectly crafted. The inside was filled with spinach, eggs, feta, tomato, onions, and garlic. It came with a side of potatoes. Normally I hate potatoes of any sort for breakfast, but these were seasoned with something that is not from the mortal world. Either that or I was just starving. However you want to look at it, they were delicious. My friend ordered “The Classic” crepe which is classically comprised of Nutella and fresh bananas. My other friend (Yes I have more than  one friend!) ordered the “Sante Fe Chicken Burrito.” Both looked amazing and as you can tell, Perk on Main has a surprising variety of food. They are also BYOB and conveniently located right next door to a liquor store.

I’m definitely going to have to go back to try the “Curious George” crepe. Almond butter and bananas? Hell yes.
