When our forefathers created the Declaration of Independence so many years ago, they forgot to add one of our most important rights. Sure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are kinda important, but what about the pursuit of cookie eating? Alright, maybe that was a little cheesy, but it IS National Cookie Day, and finals may be getting the better of what remains of my sanity. Here are our favorite cookies at and around Wes.

Every variety of cookie at Michael’s Deli.

chocolate chip and sugar cookies from Michael’s

Michael’s Deli has without a doubt, some of the very best cookies we’ve tried in Middletown. Maybe because owner/head chef/baker Chris is a huge zealot for quality and consistency. Each of his cookies is exactly 4.5 ounces, and employs a perfect texture and flavor ratio. The sugar cookie is a particular favorite, with a balanced sweet flavor highlighted by especially buttery notes. Sugar, chocolate chip, and oatmeal cranberry cookies at Fusion Bakery.

chocolate chip cookie from Fusion

some political sugar cookies from Fusion!

If you’ve even spent five minutes on our blog at this point, you know how much we adore Fusion Bakery. There cookies are a definite reason why. There chocolate chip and oatmeal cranberry, which you can find almost every day on the menu, are refined and classy, but still deliciously induldgent. They have just the right amount of sugar and butter, so that the sweetness is not overwhelming, but is present nonetheless. As far as frosted sugar cookies are concerned, not only does Fusion make some beautiful treats, but for types of cookies that we usually find mediocre at best, Fusion does wonders to these little creations. Oatmeal cranberry white chocolate chip cookies from Bon Appetit.

oatmeal cranberry white chocolate chip cookie from Bon Appetit

After doing an extensive behind the scenes tour of Bon Appetit (stay tuned for an article by the end of the week), we can honestly say that our dining service is pretty darn impressive. One of the best qualities, in our opinions, is the fact that pretty much all of our baked goods are made completely from scratch by Dennis Lazicki, a baker who used to own a bakery in Middletown, Connecticut, but now can be found 7 days a week whipping up pastries in the Bon Appetit kitchen. One of our favorite Bon Appetit desserts is the oatmeal cranberry white chocolate chip cookie. This is a truly delicious cookie, even compared with varieties off campus and outside of Middletown. The texture is sublime, it comes in various sizes depending on whether you get it at a cafe, WeShop, or in the marketplace, and after reading our review on it a couple months ago, they slightly altered the ratio of cranberries to white chocolate chips. Thanks Bon Appetit, it’s made all the difference! Read the full review here.

Cookie dough at Weswings.

we couldn’t find a picture of Weswing’s cookie dough…but here’s some other cookie dough to trigger your appetite!

How could we forget some of the most famous cookie products on the Wesleyan market? The folks behind Weswings and Red and Black make one hell of a cookie, but we think that their cookie dough is even better. The tiny cup they give you may seem like a little bit, but after the first few bites, you’ll be questioning if you’ll be able to finish it. This is some seriously delicious stuff.

As you can see, there are tons of delicious cookie options at and around our little campus. Your favorite not on here? Leave us a comment below to let us know what it is! Good luck with finals, and happy national cookie day!
