Is it just me or was last night’s gourmet pizza option at Usdan the best they’ve served up yet? I’ll admit, I rarely check out the pizza station with hopes of finding anything truly exquisite. They always seem to go a little too heavy on the cheese, and the grease-soaked crust isn’t exactly mouthwatering. I’ve always been under the impression that if there are better and healthier options available, why waste a precious meal on mediocre pizza?Well, all that changed last night. I was just strolling on through the Marketplace—“doing a lap,” as some might say, to survey the dinner options—and out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be pizza straight from Mondo or Amici. I couldn’t believe what I saw: thick, fluffy crust covered with luxurious mozzarella and ricotta cheese, and topped with tomato slices, fresh basil, and garlic. Damn straight, Bon Appetit! Now that’s what I’m talking about! Pulling out all the stops for a casual Thursday evening.Of course, I pretty much sprinted over to grabbed a slice. With a pizza this appetizing, I knew it would only take 30 seconds for the whole pie to disappear.

I savored every single bite, assuming that this would be the last time Bon Appetit would offer this pizza for a while. After all, the ingredients aren’t cheap, and it was very well prepared, undoubtedly consuming a lot of effort and time on the chefs’ part. After encouraging all my friends to go try the divine creation, everyone agreed that it was probably the best pizza that Usdan had ever had. I guess now all we can do is hope that someday, hopefully soon, Bon Appetit decides to offer it again. Fingers crossed.
